Biography
D.J. Swearingen is a Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing the 89th District, which includes all of Erie County, most of Ottawa County, and a portion of Huron County. He was appointed to the House on August 1, 2019, succeeding Representative Steve Arndt. Swearingen has been re-elected in subsequent elections, including the November 5, 2024, general election, where he defeated Democratic challenger Alicia Roshong.
Professionally, Swearingen is an attorney with the firm Wickens, Herzer, Panza, advising business owners on transactions, daily operations, and future initiatives. He is also actively involved in his community, having served on various local boards and leadership committees. He resides in Huron, Ohio, with his wife, Angie, and their three daughters. The family are active members of their local Catholic Church.
