Biography

Josh Brecheen, born on June 19, 1979, in Ada, Oklahoma, is a fourth-generation rancher and a committed Christian. He currently serves as the U.S. Representative for Oklahoma's 2nd Congressional District, a position he has held since January 3, 2023. Prior to his tenure in Congress, Brecheen served in the Oklahoma State Senate from 2010 to 2018, representing the 6th district. He is married to Kacie, and together they have four children. The family resides on their ranch in Coal County, Oklahoma.

Education and Political Experience

• Education: Brecheen attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University before transferring to Oklahoma State University, where he earned a dual degree in Agricultural Communications and Animal Science in 2002.

• Political Experience:

  • Field Representative: From 2004 to 2010, Brecheen worked as a field representative for U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, focusing on constituent services and evaluating federal programs for waste and inefficiencies.
  • Oklahoma State Senate: Elected in 2010, Brecheen served two terms in the Oklahoma State Senate, adhering to a self-imposed term limit. During his tenure, he was known for his conservative stance, authoring legislation to cap state debt, ban dismemberment abortions, and repeal and replace Common Core educational standards.
