Jeffrey J. Funke

Appointed as an Associate Justice in 2016 and elevated to Chief Justice on November 1, 2024, Jeffrey J. Funke oversees the administration of Nebraska’s judicial branch. A graduate of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Law, he previously served as a county attorney, public defender, and district court judge. Funke’s tenure as Chief Justice marks his first retention cycle under Nebraska’s Missouri Plan.
