Biography
Addison Parker McDowell, born on January 21, 1994, in Whiteville, North Carolina, is a Republican politician serving as the U.S. Representative for North Carolina's 6th Congressional District since January 3, 2025. Raised in Lexington, North Carolina, McDowell's commitment to public service was profoundly influenced by the tragic loss of his younger brother, Luke, to a fentanyl overdose in 2016. This personal experience has driven his dedication to combating the opioid crisis and enhancing border security to prevent the influx of illegal drugs.
Prior to his congressional tenure, McDowell served as a constituent liaison for Congressman Ted Budd from 2017 to 2019, where he assisted constituents with federal issues. He later worked as a lobbyist for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina until his resignation in 2023 to pursue his congressional campaign.
McDowell's 2024 campaign was notably endorsed by former President Donald Trump, emphasizing his commitment to securing the southern border and addressing the opioid epidemic.
