Biography

Cynthia Marie Lummis, born on September 10, 1954, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, is an American attorney and politician serving as the junior United States Senator from Wyoming since January 3, 2021. A member of the Republican Party, she is the first woman to represent Wyoming in the U.S. Senate. Prior to her tenure in the Senate, Lummis served as the U.S. Representative for Wyoming's at-large congressional district from 2009 to 2017. She also held positions as Wyoming State Treasurer from 1999 to 2007 and served in both chambers of the Wyoming State Legislature.
