Biography

Dunixi Guereca, a Democrat, began serving as the Nebraska State Senator for District 7 on January 8, 2025, succeeding Tony Vargas. Born to Mexican immigrant parents, Guereca has dedicated his career to advocating for public education and workers' rights. Prior to his election, he served as the Executive Director of Stand for Schools, a Nebraska-based nonprofit committed to strengthening public education. Before that, he worked as a union organizer with the Service Employees International Union , focusing on securing fair wages and protections for healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
