Biography

Erin Houchin, born on September 24, 1976, in Indiana, is a Republican politician representing Indiana's 9th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. She was elected to Congress in 2022, succeeding Trey Hollingsworth. Prior to her tenure in Congress, Houchin served as the Indiana State Senator for the 47th District from 2014 to 2022, where she was known for her conservative stance on issues such as the Second Amendment and law enforcement support.

In the House of Representatives, Houchin serves on several key committees, including the House Financial Services Committee, the House Rules Committee, and the House Education and Workforce Committee. She has been active in introducing legislation, such as the Think Differently About Education Act, aimed at ensuring parents of children with disabilities are fully informed of their rights in Individualized Education Program meetings.

Houchin is married to Dustin Houchin, a prosecutor and judge in Washington County, Indiana. They have three children and reside in Salem, Indiana.
