Biography
Frank Dean Lucas, born on January 6, 1960, in Cheyenne, Oklahoma, is a fifth-generation Oklahoman whose family has farmed in the state for over a century. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from Oklahoma State University in 1982. Lucas began his political career in the Oklahoma State House of Representatives, serving from 1988 to 1994. In 1994, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in a special election and has since been re-elected to represent Oklahoma's 3rd Congressional District. This district encompasses 32 counties in northern and western Oklahoma, covering nearly half the state's land mass and is one of the largest agricultural regions in the nation.

Agriculture: As Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, Lucas played a pivotal role in crafting the 2014 Farm Bill, which reformed food assistance programs and consolidated numerous government programs, saving taxpayers over $40 billion while maintaining a strong safety net for farmers.
Science and Technology: Serving as Chairman of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, Lucas has been an advocate for Oklahoma's energy technology and aerospace industries, emphasizing the importance of science-driven environmental policies.
Financial Services: As the longest-serving Republican on the House Financial Services Committee, Lucas has worked to ensure rural Oklahomans have access to credit and capital, and has been a proponent of protecting the savings of older Americans from detrimental federal financial policies.
Awards: In 2024, Lucas received the American Farm Bureau Federation’s Distinguished Service Award, the organization's highest honor, recognizing his longstanding commitment to American agriculture.
Lucas continues to reside in Cheyenne, Oklahoma, with his wife, Lynda. They have three children and five grandchildren and are active members of the First Baptist Church in Cheyenne.
