Biography

Michael K. Simpson, born on September 8, 1950, in Burley, Idaho, is a Republican politician representing Idaho's 2nd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1999. Raised in Blackfoot, Idaho, he practiced dentistry before entering politics. Simpson began his political career on the Blackfoot City Council in 1980, served in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998, and was Speaker of the Idaho House from 1992 to 1998. In Congress, he has been a strong advocate for Idaho's agriculture industry and has introduced significant legislation, including the Farm Workforce Modernization Act. ,
