Biography

Steny Hamilton Hoyer, born on June 14, 1939, in New York City, is a Democratic politician representing Maryland's 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1981. Raised in Mitchellville, Maryland, he has been a prominent figure in both state and national politics. Hoyer has held significant leadership roles, including House Majority Leader from 2007 to 2011 and again from 2019 to 2023.
