Biography

Timothy Michael Kaine, born on February 26, 1958, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, is a Democratic politician serving as the junior United States Senator from Virginia since 2013. Raised in Overland Park, Kansas, he graduated from the University of Missouri and earned a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School. Kaine's political career includes roles as Mayor of Richmond , Lieutenant Governor of Virginia , and Governor of Virginia . In 2016, he was the Democratic vice-presidential nominee alongside Hillary Clinton. He was re-elected to the Senate in 2018 and 2024.
