About
Biography
Dr. Beth Liston is a Democratic member of the Ohio Senate, representing the 16th district, which includes northern Franklin County, encompassing cities such as Hilliard, Dublin, Worthington, Westerville, New Albany, Gahanna, and parts of Columbus. She began her term in the Senate on January 1, 2025, after serving three terms in the Ohio House of Representatives.
Born on October 26, 1974, in Long Island, New York, Dr. Liston moved to Columbus at the age of 8. She graduated as salutatorian from Thomas Worthington High School in 1992. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Notre Dame in 1996, graduating magna cum laude. Dr. Liston then completed both her MD and PhD at The Ohio State University, focusing her doctoral research on the molecular biology of cancer chemo-prevention. She graduated cum laude in 2002 and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
After completing her residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Yale New Haven Hospital, Dr. Liston joined the faculty at Ohio State University in 2006. She is currently a Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, with significant involvement in medical student education and advocacy.

- Serves as Assistant Democratic Whip in the 136th General Assembly.

- Introduced bipartisan legislation to ensure families receive child support payments, regardless of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families benefits.
- Advocated for policies to lower drug costs and protect Ohioans from harmful insurance practices.
- Served as past-president of the Columbus Medical Association.
Dr. Liston resides in Dublin with her husband, Denver, and their two children, Madeline and Adam. She is also a member of the Dublin-Worthington Rotary.
