Biography
Conor Lamb is an American attorney and politician who served as the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 17th congressional district from 2018 to 2023. Born on June 27, 1984, in Washington, D.C., he grew up in Mt. Lebanon, a suburb of Pittsburgh. Lamb comes from a politically active family; his grandfather, Thomas F. Lamb, was the Democratic Majority Leader in the Pennsylvania State Senate, and his uncle, Michael Lamb, has served as Pittsburgh's city controller since 2008.
After earning his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006, Lamb completed his Juris Doctor at the same institution in 2009. He then served as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2009 to 2013, achieving the rank of Major. Following his military service, Lamb worked as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Pittsburgh from 2014 to 2017, prosecuting cases ranging from drug trafficking to violent crimes.
In 2018, Lamb won a special election to represent Pennsylvania's 18th congressional district, a seat previously held by a Republican. He was re-elected in 2018 and 2020, serving in the 17th district after redistricting. During his tenure in Congress, Lamb served on the House committees on Science, Space and Technology; Veterans Affairs; and Transportation and Infrastructure. In 2022, he ran for the U.S. Senate but finished second in the Democratic primary to John Fetterman.
After leaving Congress, Lamb joined the law firm Kline & Specter as a partner and became an adjunct professor at Duquesne University's Kline School of Law. He is married to Hayley Haldeman, and they have two children, Matthew and Theodora.
