Biography
Eugene Semyon Vindman, born on June 6, 1975, in Kyiv, Ukraine, immigrated to the United States with his family as a refugee at the age of four. Settling in New York, he attended public schools and later pursued higher education. Vindman dedicated 25 years to the U.S. Army, serving as an infantry officer, paratrooper, and later as a Judge Advocate General's Corps attorney. His military career included deployments to Iraq and a tenure as a deputy legal advisor on the National Security Council . In 2019, he played a pivotal role in reporting concerns about President Trump's call with Ukrainian President Zelensky, which contributed to the first impeachment proceedings against Trump. After retiring from the Army in 2022, Vindman investigated war crimes in Ukraine before being elected as the Democratic representative for Virginia's 7th Congressional District in 2024.
