John Francis "Jack" Reed, born on November 12, 1949, in Cranston, Rhode Island, is a distinguished American politician and former military officer serving as the senior United States Senator from Rhode Island. A member of the Democratic Party, Reed has held this position since 1997, following three terms in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1991 to 1997. His extensive military background and commitment to public service have shaped his legislative priorities, particularly in defense, education, and economic development.
Education and Military Service
- United States Military Academy at West Point: Graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
