Biography
Jacob Andrew Joseph LaTurner, born on February 17, 1988, in Galena, Kansas, is a sixth-generation Kansan who has dedicated his career to public service. Raised in Southeast Kansas, he graduated from Galena High School and earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Pittsburg State University. During his college years, LaTurner worked as a district representative for former Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins. After completing his education, he joined Watco, a leading short-line rail company, where he honed his customer service skills.
LaTurner married Suzanne Van Gotten in 2009, and together they have four children: Ava, Joe, Maggie, and Gus.

Kansas State Senate : Elected at age 24, LaTurner became the youngest member of the Kansas Senate. He authored legislation imposing term limits on state legislators, reforming public records requests, and combating nepotism.

Kansas State Treasurer : Appointed by Governor Sam Brownback, LaTurner became the nation's youngest statewide official at 29. He returned over $25.5 million in unclaimed property to Kansans during his first year in office.

U.S. House of Representatives : Represented Kansas's 2nd congressional district. He served on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Oversight and Accountability Committee.
In April 2024, LaTurner announced he would not seek reelection, citing the demands of congressional service and a desire to spend more time with his young children.
