Biography
John W. Mannion, born on July 8, 1968, in Syracuse, New York, is a Democratic politician representing New York's 22nd Congressional District, which includes communities such as Syracuse, Utica, Oneida, Auburn, and Cortland. He assumed office in the U.S. House of Representatives on January 3, 2025. Prior to his congressional tenure, Mannion served as a New York State Senator for the 50th District from December 16, 2020, to December 31, 2024. Before entering politics, he dedicated nearly three decades to teaching high school science, including Advanced Placement Biology and Chemistry, at the West Genesee School District in Onondaga County. As president of the West Genesee Teachers’ Association for eight years, he represented 400 teachers and nurses during two successful contract negotiations.

New York State Senate :
- Elected in 2020, becoming the first Democrat to hold the 50th District seat in over 50 years.
