Biography
Kurt Schrader, born on October 19, 1951, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, is an American veterinarian and politician who served as a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2009 to 2023, representing Oregon's 5th Congressional District. Before his tenure in Congress, Schrader was a veterinarian and farmer for over 30 years, establishing the Clackamas County Veterinary Clinic in Oregon City and operating a farm where he grew and sold organic produce.
In May 2023, Schrader joined the law and lobbying firm Williams & Jensen as a principal, focusing on issues related to medical innovation and research and development.
