Biography
Michael C. Burgess, M.D., born on December 23, 1950, in Rochester, Minnesota, is a physician and politician who served as the U.S. Representative for Texas's 26th Congressional District from 2003 to 2025. A member of the Republican Party, he was known for his medical expertise and conservative fiscal policies. During his tenure, Burgess chaired the House Rules Committee in the 118th Congress and was a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the House Budget Committee. He was also the founder and co-chairman of the Congressional Health Caucus.
