Biography
Anthony Hardy Williams is a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania State Senate, representing the 8th District, which includes parts of Delaware and Philadelphia counties. Born on February 28, 1957, in Philadelphia, he is the son of Hardy Williams, a pioneering politician, and Carole Williams, an elementary school teacher. Williams began his political career in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1989, serving the 191st legislative district until 1998. In 1999, he succeeded his father in the State Senate and has been serving since. Throughout his tenure, Williams has been a strong advocate for education reform, public safety, and economic development. He has held leadership positions such as Democratic Whip from 2011 to 2022 and currently serves as the Minority Chair of the Community, Economic & Recreational Development Committee.
